A Day in the Life of a Photojournalist, Workshop

Be fast, have quick eyes, on the move, take the shot, done, move on.........keep up! That pretty much sums up my recent workshop with photojournalist extraordinaire, Mike Greenlar. When we met in the morning I was given a print out of his assignments for the day. Our first stop was the Regional Market. I was amazed at how quickly he moved through the crowds, choose his spot and then found the perfect subjects to photograph. We followed and Mother with her daughter and friend through the market and after about 45 minutes, it was time to move on to the next assignment.

Next it was on to Big Rig Day at Burnet Park. There were tractor trailers, fire trucks, snowplows, and every other kind of large working vehicle imaginable. They sparkled and shined to loud blasts of horns as kids fulfilled their lifelong dreams, by pretending to drive in the front seats. My ears had a little ring to them by the time we left. After getting a good amount of pictures here we followed Mike to Freedom of Espresso, where we were able to get a behind the scenes look at the final editing and submission process.

I have always found photojournalism interesting, and after getting a taste of it all I can say is LOVE IT! LOVE IT!
